Hairstyling (Pre Apprenticeship Course)

This 12 month, 1820 hour program is designed for the beginner. The program focuses on the theoretical knowledge, the practical knowledge, and the experience that novice stylists require to transition themselves into a successful career within the hair industry. 
The 12 month course is broken down into 2 parts. The first 6 months entails lectures and clinics. Students are in the classroom learning the fundamentals of hair styling and dressing.

This is the main-stay course that focuses on providing you with an excellent over-view of the tools that will make you succeed in the hair industry. MEN’S CUTTING

This two-day cutting course’s primary focus is the men.  This is perfectly suited to those looking to learn about men’s styling techniques, as well as if you would like to polish your skills in this area.  During the duration, you will be exposed to theory, and practical components that will encompass hands-on components with mannequins and live model demos.  Men’s styling is the fastest growing industry segment currently, and this course will teach you all that you need to be prepared for this new wave of opportunity.  The requirement for completing this course is a hairstyling license or a hairstyling diploma. RESTORE THE PASSION (Customized Course)*

This is a course that is designed for the hairdresser that is looking to gain knowledge and experiences across a number of competencies.   In order to provide the student with the ability to choose based on their needs, this course is fully customizable and is moulded in accordance to the specification of the student.  This ranges from 2 to 12 weeks in length, and is tailored specifically to you.  During this course, you will have the ability to learn theory as well as to apply what you’ve learned with hands-on oriented demos on mannequins and models.  The requirement for completing this course is a hairstyling license or a hairstyling diploma.

This is a class that will be taught by FIORIO master stylists and industry icons.  This will be a one day, high-energy, and highly impactful session with CityLine Makeover guest stars Maurice Fiorio, Bill Rowley, and Phillipe Fiorio.  Given their extensive knowledge and experience within the industry, this class is sure to pack a punch.  The primary focus will be delivering knowledge of advanced cutting, and colouring techniques inspired by the latest looks, styles, and collections.  These methods will certainly help you to gain a much deeper understanding of various methods, as well as proven tips and tricks to be a better service provider.  The requirement for completing this course is a hairstyling license or a hairstyling diploma. ADVANCED STYLING

UPDO CLASS*

This class will teach you one of the most common styling arrangements practiced today.  The purpose of an updo is to create more elaborate styles, intended for those special occasions.  For example, wedding season is when up-do’s really become popular, as well as during prom.  This is a great opportunity to learn this skill and perfect it during this two-day class.  The Updo class is created specifically with the purpose of not only teaching the basics, but polishing the look with a number of various hair setting techniques and through creative planning arrangement.   This will be done through theory, demos, and hands-on exercises on mannequins and live models. Hair Extensions

Course Code: HE001

This program is specifically designed and developed for Fiorio Academy students who have completed a minimum of 850 hours, however is also open to all non-Fiorio students as well (Pre-requisites are; License or Hairstyling Diploma). The extension training program is very intensely structured for serious hairstylists who are attending school on a daily basis, as well as those who wish to update their skills with the current industry trends.

Training takes place during regular school hours. The group has a private class with the Certified Fiorio Extension Instructor at the designated time.

The class is a two day workshop from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on both days.

Key Performance Indicators for Private Career Colleges

Under the authority of the Ontario Career Colleges Act, 2005, the Superintendent of Ontario Career Colleges issued a policy directive setting out five PCC KPIs:

* Graduation Rate
* Graduate Employment Rate
* Graduate Employment Rate in Field of Study
* Graduate Satisfaction Rate
* Employer Satisfaction Rate

Graduation rate is calculated from audited data submitted by PCCs three times per year. The other four KPIs are calculated from surveys taken by graduates and their employers. The ministry also calculates Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) loan default rates for PCCs approved to accept OSAP-assisted students, which are also considered a performance indicator for the sector.

Published 2013 results included graduation rate, graduate employment rate, graduate employment rate in field of study and loan default rates. Graduate and employer satisfaction rates have also be published, beginning with 2014 results.

For the 2013 and 2014 cycles, only PCCs with OSAP-approved programs were required to participate in the KPI process. All PCCs have been included since the 2015 cycle.
